“It’s Halloween Day!” (2017-2018)

It’s Halloween Day and the coffins all creaked…
The dead were rising, but could not yet speak…
Chains could be heard, dragging the floor…
It’s Mummy, it’s Mummy! someone screamed through the door…

A quiet fall day, but into the night…
The Vampires were sharpening their fangs for a bite!
The tombstones wobbled when up from the ground…
Rose those who had passed, emitting a mournful sound…

A coyote howled at the full harvest moon…
As I heard someone picking, a banjo tune!
Some old dead picker, who’s spirit had rose…
Pickin’ on his banjo, a tune so morose…

Out in the graveyard, arose such a clatter…
It’s a group of old skulls whose green teeth still chatter…
A black cat arching, in front of the moon…
Wolfman, surely, will be here soon!

Frankenstein lurching his way down the lane…
To hear banjo picking that will drive him insane…
A lake in the background, reflecting the moon…
Up from the water comes the Creature… from the Black Lagoon!

The old iron fence ’round the graveyard still stands…
The gate door creaking, touched by cold, dead hands…
A hoot owl hooting, in yonder fog mist…
Harkens forth the dead, in yet another stark twist…

Fiddles a fiddlin’ from a dead bluegrass band…
Playing only minor melodies, ain’t death grand?
The Addams Family listens and nods with delight…
The Munsters are coming, what a terrible fright!

Grim Reaper, Grim Reaper, from whence dost thou come?
Through a dense foggy night, that no creature could shun!
And should you now wonder who penned these words here for you…
They were written in cold blood… by BanjoTom2!
