“The Easter Bunny” – Poetic Verse – NEW! -2019

The Easter Bunny – Tom Arri 2019

I looked out my cabin window and out there in the yard…
A six foot Easter bunny and he’s uh-working really hard…
Hiding all the Easter Eggs upon my pro-per-ty…
Problem is he’s trespassing and that ain’t OK with me…

I got out my shotgun and did the shotgun thing…
We’ll be eating Easter bunny until later in the spring…
Rabbit chops, rabbit steak, succulent rabbit legs…
What’s that crazy rabbit doin’, dying’ chicken eggs?

I named my hunting dog, I named him Elmer Fudd…
He’s chasin’ all the rabbits through the sunshine and the mud…
Ain’t no better exercise for your good old hunting dog…
Than to chase the rabbit through the field and trap him in a log…

Bunny rabbits, chocolate rabbits, candy rabbits, too…
And boys, the Playboy bunny, she’s uh-lookin’ right at YOU!
I don’t know about the other varmints in my good old pick up truck…
But the Easter’s Bunny’s four fast feet didn’t bring him any luck…

Rabbit whiskers, rabbit feet, rabbit cotton tail…
Against my good old shotgun, no rabbit can prevail…
On my trophy wall, there’s many a rabbit head…
And my favorite saying, “That’s what I said, “Bunny Bread”…

Volkswagen made a rabbit, and they made that rabbit fast…
What happened to that rabbit? It’s uh-rustin’ in the grass!
There’s a rabbit in the oven and a rabbit in the stew…
There’s Bugs Bunny uh-pickin’ out a banjo tune for you…

The last thing I’m thinking here is really not the last…
Easter Eggs and Easter Bunnies are out there in the grass…
How did Jesus’ death and resurrection the third day…
Get mixed with Easter Bunnies, baskets and candy on Easter Day?

I guess it’s stuff to think about as we make our way along…
Through the rabbit’s trail of life as it’s written in this song…
The Easter bunny found his end when God made Elmer Fudd…
Give your heart to Jesus now, you’re covered by the blood!
