“The GIFT of Music!”… – NEW! – 2019

I’m a fellow who believes in God…

The Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost…

I was raised Catholic, became a Lutheran while in college (my mid twenties) and later got MUCH Christian education through the Southern Baptist and Pentecostal churches…

At age 59+, I have developed some insights about life in general…

From my earliest years as a youngster (4 through 10), I was exposed to Bluegrass music through our black & white television. The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Hee Haw, etc…

I would never tell anyone, ever, to this day, that I am ‘gifted’ with music, because I believe I am not.

However, I HAVE BEEN GIFTED with an extreme DESIRE to LEARN… More and more and more about music…

In my youth, I was all about GUITAR!

Rock guitar, rock guitar, and more rock guitar!

I did see some episodes of Captain Kangaroo and Sesame Street, where acoustic guitar players performed and I was very impressed…

In the ensuing child and teenage years, I was continually impressed by people that could play. Guitar mostly, because that’s what I was exposed to.

By the time I was in my very late teens and early twenties, I was getting exposed to local folks who played acoustic music, and bluegrass.

I went to many festivals, everywhere and anywhere…

I was HUNGRY for knowledge!

As of my late teens (19), I started guitar lessons.

I learned to read music, I was introduced to Music Theory and encouraged by one of my teachers to become a part time (guitar-mandolin-banjo) teacher while in college.

Teaching guitar, studying music, studying theory, learning about music history and attending not only bluegrass concerts, but also classical guitar concerts.

All through my working career as a Graphic Artist and Music Store employee, I ALWAYS went home and practiced and played and did gigs occasionally with other like-minded music friends.

Even though I never became ‘virtuosic’ on any of my instruments, I was FILLED WITH LOVE for music!

I never stopped playing, studying, practicing, attending concerts, etc.

I’ve played in beer and wine gardens, churches, Masonic Lodges, church picnics and local city parks.

Always met nice people though the music…

Darn near every friend I’ve had as an adult in almost 40 years has been through music and music stores.

Music is a PUZZLE, and I never seem to get tired of working the puzzle…

Learning new tunes, arranging new tunes, setting up chord charts and related musical illustrations.

The good Lord surely knew there would be plenty of people (one of His many creations), that would want to enjoy and experience music as a pass-time, hobby, part-time job, career, etc.

I was and am one of those people.

I thank God, His son Jesus and the Holy Spirit every day for all of the good things going on in my life.

Lots of things to be thankful for.

Including and especially, THE GIFT of music!

Merry Christmas!

Jesus is the Reason for the Season!
