“Tabbin’ at the Cabin’…” – Poetic Verse (BJT2)

Tabbin’ at the Cabin – BJT2 – April, 2019

I’m uh-tabbin’ at the cabin with my old dog ‘woof’…
Banjo sitting next to me, hoot owl on the roof…
Moon shine jug on the floor by the door…
When it comes up empty then it’s time to make some more!

Cabin in the holler and it’s hidden in the night…
Moon shines gold through the fog and mighty bright…
I’m uh-stickin’ to my pickin’ on my banjo, mandolin…
Friends are comin’ over, so invite ’em on in…

Got some meat on the grill and it’s uh-smokin’ really good…
It’ll bring in the dogs from around the neighborhood…
It’s a G chord, C chord, leadin’ to the D-seven…
Sixteen bars and we’re in Bluegrass Heaven…

Fiddle man uh-fiddlin’ out old tunes that sound just right…
The grill keeps uh-grillin’ under moonbeams in the night…
Pass around the jug while I puff a little smoke…
From an old corn cob found in Virginia, Roanoke…

Gravel road uh-wandering down the way and to the right…
Moving through the valley on a moonlit foggy night…
Old Ford truck with a lift and big ole tires…
Needs a little paint and some messin’ with the wires…

Tractor in the field is uh-plowin’, plantin’ corn…
Still out there in the evening, he’s been out there since the morn…
Misty, mountain moonlight shines upon a field of cow…
They’ve been chewin’ and uh-moo-in’ in a field I’m gonna plow…

Well, it’s shore been nice, I’ve enjoyed your company…
Singin’ and a pickin’ in the holler here with me…
Banjo, fiddle, guitar and a little mandolin…
Moon shinin’ bright through the foggy mountain din…
